Leading figure in the French alternative scene, Bordeaux-based songwriter and Flippin’ Freaks Records co-founder Thoineau Palis - aka TH da Freak - has built a vast and captivating discography over the years, paying tribute to his own pantheon of rock heroes, populated by lo-fi geeks and beautiful losers of all kinds. For his fifteenth release Negative Freaks (due on March 21, 2025, on Howlin’ Banana Records, Flippin’ Freaks Records, and Les Disques du Paradis), the prolific TH da Freak embarks on a new creative chapter.

This upcoming album marks the first time the five-member lineup—previously reserved for live performances—has taken part in the entire creative process. Shifting from Thoineau Palis’s solo compositions to a collaborative, free-spirited approach, each musician chose their own instrument and setup, resulting in a raw, grunge-inspired sound. Recorded in just four days, Negative Freaks blends dissonant, proto-grunge influences from early Mudhoney, TAD, and Nirvana with pop structures and surreal lyrics. It emerges as a cohesive, bold debut for the band.
With an upcoming European/UK tour and a show at Left of the Dial festival in October, TH da Freak continues to cement its reputation both in France and beyond.

Today, the band unveils a video for the second single, ‘Infinite Love’—offering a raw, unfiltered glimpse into their evolving sound.

TH da Freak - Infinite Love

‘Infinite Love’ was one of the final tracks the band wrote for the album, crafted collectively as a five-piece. Their goal was to create a grunge anthem with a hypnotic, laid-back tempo that would stick in your head. The song delves into themes of egocentrism with a fatalistic edge: « Infinite love inside, love inside, love inside / The body that it’s mine, that it’s mine, that it’s mine / Friendly dogs will be abandoned, bad owners will win / The world is a sum of “I” and no one sees a thing. »

For the music video, TH da Freak collaborated with director Florent Dubois, known for his work with French acts like We Hate You Please Die, MNNQNS, and Forever Pavot. The video explores the concept a love-hate relationship, where a towering spectator (the giant) looms over and interacts with a performance—portrayed by musicians trapped in a confined, sewer-like box. The video draws inspiration from the surreal, distorted aesthetics of 'Black Hole Sun' by Soundgarden and 'Failure' by Orange 9mm.
